The 4th Intellectual Property Awareness Summit will Explore ‘IP and the lives it touches’

The 2021 Intellectual Property Awareness Summit will be held virtually this year free of charge on April 28th-29th and feature a total of 18 speakers.

This year’s theme is ‘IP and the lives it touches.’ The registration fee is being waived due to the Covid pandemic.

Four panels will be held over two days with a keynote speaker on each day. IPAS 2021 will feature leading IP owners, educators, investors and creators. More than 200 persons are expected to attend, including policymakers, investors and students.

Panel topics include:

  • ‘Does the IP system effectively promote diversity and entrepreneurship?’
  • ‘What does China’s IP rights explosion mean for innovation?’
  • ‘How can schools better teach students about intellectual property?’
  • ‘The ‘Perception’ Premium: How IP understanding promotes value’

Two Keynotes

Day one keynote will be a member of the United States Congress focused on intellectual property. Day two is James E. West, Hall of Fame inventor, acoustician and former Bell Labs researcher, who will talk about IP, minorities and inclusion.

18 Prominent Speakers 

Speakers include David Teece, renowned UC Berkeley economist, author of more than 20 books on IP rights and intellectual capital and successful entrepreneur; John E. Kelly, III, former Chief Technology Officer at IBM; China IP experts Mark Cohen and Hon. Randall R. Rader (Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, ret.),  and Lisa D. Cook, author of Violence and Economic Activity: Evidence from African American Patents, 1870 to 1940.

This unique event is being held by the Center for Intellectual Property Understanding (CIPU), an independent non-profit, and the Kellogg School of Management, Center for Research in Technology and Innovation.
