AI and IP expert Allison Gaul will be the Featured Morning Speaker at the IP Summit on April 23rd

A leading strategist at the nexis of AI adoption, management and intellectual property rights, Allison Gaul, has been confirmed as the morning featured speaker at the 9th IP Awareness Summit® on April 23rd.

Ms. Gaul, an international AI and IP strategist for BCG-X, the innovation affiliate of the venerable Boston Consulting Group, advises companies about using AI as well as businesses developing AI tools. Her topic: AI’s Elusive Impacts – The Obvious, the Subtle and the Unexpected.

“While I would never say we shouldn’t follow [AI] regulation, we can’t wait for that. We have to try to find our own way and take our best guess regarding what regulators are going to say and do, and then be able to course correct as needed.”

An experienced patent attorney who served as a USPTO examiner, her consulting assignments include AI adoption, IP licensing opportunities and risk. She has supported developments in artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain, fintech, Internet of Things, drones/UAVs, telecommunications, and augmented reality.

“We’re all aware the AI can be leveraged in ways that are not good for humanity, customers and the environment,” Ms. Gaul told Understanding IP Matters host, Bruce Berman recently. “The technology is going way too fast, but if you wait for regulation, you will still be waiting. If you’re sitting around waiting we’d all be using typewriters, right now.

In addition to a law degree from Temple, Ms. Gaul holds a master’s in Business Analytics from Harvard. In 2022, she was named Ms. District of Columbia.

“While I would never say we shouldn’t follow regulation, we can’t wait for that. We have to try to find our own way and take our best guess regarding what regulators are going to say and do, and then be able to course correct as needed.”
