WIPO for Creators Wants to Provide Higher Levels of Support through ‘CLIP’, a Public-Private Partnership

A public–private partnership launched by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Music Rights Awareness Foundation wants to provide musicians and other creators a helping hand.

“Creators worldwide contribute to the richness and diversity of culture and we all enjoy their stories, their music, their films and their art,” explains WIPO in announcing the initiative.

For creators to survive they must be equipped with the knowledge they need to manage their intellectual property rights. WIPO for Creators, with the support of creators, other stakeholders and governments worldwide, endeavors to form an open and inclusive community.

A UN-supported special agency, WIPO has 193 member nations. According to a statement it will work together to improve networks and infrastructure supporting the growth of creative industries everywhere.

Raising IP Awareness

Through CLIP, WIPO for Creators aims to raise awareness and increase knowledge of creators’ rights and related management practices, ensuring recognition and fair reward for all creators regardless of their geographical, cultural or economic conditions.

CLIP – “Creators Learn Intellectual Property” is a user-friendly online platform aimed at raising creators’ awareness of intellectual property (IP) rights and related management practices, ensuring they receive recognition and fair reward for their work.
